Property in Agde - A Guide to Agde

The town of Agde is at the estuary of the river Herault, on the mediteranean coast. Property in Agde is mostly made up of village houses in quaint cobbled streets, or modern town houses slightly away from the centre.

You can buy a village house in Agde from as little as 50,000€ but they’re not easy to find, and it will need some major renovation work. Expect to start looking closer to 100,000€ for something pretty small, moving up to prices around 500,000€ for something a bit special.

Agde property can be good rental investment property. An apartment overlooking the river is always going to rent well to holiday makers. Especially when you see that Agde has a railway station with direct line to Montpellier, and is only about 5km from the beach. There are some developments just outside Agde with studio, one, or two bedroom apartments with terraces overlooking the river on one side and vineyards on the other.

Agde’s market is on a Thursday. A large local affair, and in my opinion, one of the better ones in the area. The food market is particulary good. With a really good selection of cheese, meat, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. And not forgetting of course. Wine.

Agde is less than an hours drive to Montpellier airport, where daily flights to and from the UK can cost as little as 50€ return. A flight time of around two hours means that frequent trips are a lot more realistic than they used to be.
