With a population of around 6000, Bedarieux is a local hub for the small villages that surround it, such as Herepian and Le Pradal, with over 300 shops to choose from. It has four state run primary schools, two secondary schools, as well as three private schools. One primary, one secondary, and one college. It also has three full-size soccer grounds (2 grassed, 1 tarmac), a sports hall, four tennis courts, an open-air swimming pool (open July and August), an athletics track and a dojo (martial arts).

Property in Bedarieux can be cheaper than other parts of the Languedoc that are closer to the sea. A typical three floor village house needing a lot of work can be bought fro under 50,000€, but these are not easy to find and the amount of work needed should not be underestimated.

Nearest airport to Bedarieux is Montpellier at about 100km. Second closest is Carcassonne airport at about 135km. Both of these airports offer flights to and from the UK with Ryanair, while Montpellier is also served by British Airways.
