Property in Bram - A Guide to Bram

Property in the town of Bram can be found for under 50,000€ but don’t expect this to be a palace. In fact, if you’re budget for a property in Bram is around this level you better have the time, money, contacts and patience for a lot of building work. We’re talking new wiring, new plumbing, plastering, probably roof, kitchen, bathroom etc etc etc.

For a house in Bram that is presented in what I would call “Good decorative condition”, you need to be thinking of starting at 100,000€. I saw an interesting advert while writing this for a 90 sqm village house that looked very nice for 102,000€. Typically the addirion of outside space will push the price up. Probably to something in excess of 120,000€. Again, depending upon the amount of work you’re willing to do.

The town of Bram itself is a good size place of around 3000 inhabitants, and spanning an area of approx 18 sq km. Like many towns and villages in this part of France, Bram doesn’t have many apartments and is mostly made up of houses (Approx 88%). Of these houses, the majority are classed as 5 rooms or more. The French estate agents don’t count kitchens and bathrooms in these classifications so 5 rooms probably means 4 bedrooms and a reception room or 3 beds and 2 reception rooms.

Being a decent size place, Bram has got a fair amount of commerce. There’s several garages and builders. As well as two butchers, a fruit and veg shop, post office, two librairies, three hairdressers, three cafes, a tabac, two restaurants, Dentists, Doctors and a couple of Chemists.

Bram is located just off junction 22 of the A61 motorway, and only 24km from Carcassonne airport.
