The village of Canet is popular with people looking to buy in this part of the Herault partly due to it’s proximity and easy access to the A75 motorway and the town of Clermont L’Herault.

With nearly 2000 inhabitants, Canet is one of the bigger villages in the area in terms of people, but not it terms of area. It covers only about 8sq km. However, within it’s 8 sq km it packs in a fair bit. You’ll find the usual selection of builders and electricians but also a garage, a couple of bakers, a grocers, post office, two hairdressers, a café, tabac and a dentist. There’s also two Doctors and a pharmacy as well as two schools.

There are approx 750 properties in Canet. Of these, a majority of 88% are primary residences, while about 7% are secondary residences. The remaining 5% of Canet properties are vacant.

Like many villages in this area, apartments do not account for much of the buildings. In the case of Canet, only 4%. The rest are houses. Most of the villages in this part of the Herault have the largest segment of their properties as four bedroom houses. Canet is a little different and actually has it’s largest segment (37%) as three bedroom houses. Four bedrooms and larger are not far behind, and account for approx 35%. 21% are two bedroom houses, with the remainder consisting of studios and one bedrooms.

A couple of minutes in the car will have you at junction 57 of the A75 motorway, with direct and easy access to Beziers in the south and Paris in the north. About 60km east of Canet is Montpellier airport, with flights to and from the UK with Ryanair and British Airways.
