A very popular village within the Pezenas area, property in Caux is very sought after and can therefore property in Caux can be more expensive than some of its neighbouring villages. Property in Caux is mainly made up of houses. Apartments are available but they are few and far between. Caux’s popularity has meant that it has had to grow in order to accommodate the numbers of families moving in. This growth has taken shape in the form of new build houses springing up on the edges of the village. The current trend is for developers to build the infrastructure for new housing developments and leave the building of the houses to the individuals. One such development in Caux is “Les Clos De Chenes”. This is a development of 12 plots on the side of a hill overlooking the village. Plots are between 1000 and 1400 square metres and so give the development a feeling of space and exclusivity. Developments I’ve seen with plots of around 400 - 700sqm feel very tight in comparison. The developers are looking for around 160€ per sqm which seems to be at the upper end of prices in this area. Having said that it does feel much more of a quality development in terms of its layout, size and position than some of the others I’ve seen. If new build is not your thing then property in Caux also features some lovely old houses, some of which are set into the walls of the old church. This gives Caux’s back streets a real medieval feel to them. Caux has a wide main street with a decent selection of cafes, bars, shops and restaurants. It’s even got a bank with a cash point. Something that’s not exactly common in villages of this size. The nearest airport to Caux is Montpellier, which is approx 60km away and can be reached by car in less than an hour. Montpellier airport has flights to and from the UK with Ryanair into Stansted and British Airways into Gatwick.
