Property in Gignac - A Guide to Gignac

Acting as a natural waypoint between the sea and the Mountains, Gignac was founded in the tenth century and was later fortified in the thirteenth century. Gignac has a population of approx 4000 and an area of approx 30 square km.

With it’s market on a Saturday and it’s pretty cobbled streets, Gignac property is always popular for those looking for the best of both worlds, the sea and the mountains.

Prices of Gingac property are not too different from neighbouring towns and villages. It really depends on what sort of condition you want your property in. You should be able to pick up a decent two bed village house for around 120,000€ and prices will increase with your list of wants.

Gignac is only about 40km from Montpellier airport by way of the E11 so a long weekend from the UK is certainly a possibility. Both British Airways and Ryanair operate flights between Montpellier and the UK to Gatwick and Stansted.

Take the E11 road in the opposite direction and in about 15 minutes you’ll be at the new A75 motorway. This will give you quick and direct access to Paris in the north and Beziers in the south.

So if you’re thinking of buying a property in the Languedoc as a holiday home or rental investment, Gignac could be worth considering. You can be at the beach in around half an hour and in the mountains in even less. Not forgetting of course the beautiful “Lac Du Salagou” which is only about 15 minutes west of Gignac.
