Property in Herault - A Guide to Herault

Property in the Herault Departement of the Languedoc is regarded by some as the most popular in the region. With some beautiful Languedoc Maison de Maitre around it's easy to see why.

The area's popularity can also, in part, be attributed to the excellent communications links that now serve the region.

Below are links to pages with information and advice on 55 different towns and villages throughout the Herault

The A9 motorway brings people down from Lyon and the east, while at the same time bringing people up from Spain. Add to this the recent extensions to the A75 motorway, allowing people from Paris a straight route down through France.

In addition to these excellent road links, the Heralt is also served by Montpellier, Beziers, Nimes and Carcassonne airports. Allowing people from the UK and other parts of Europe easy access to this holiday hotspot.

You can also board the Eurostar at Waterloo, change at Paris or Lille, and be in Montpellier less than Seven and a half hours later.

Attitudes to Herault property have changed in recent years. A lot of French families have left the charm and character of the old village houses and Maisons de Vignerons in search of newly built “Languedoc Style” villas on new developments. Indeed a fair few English people have also decided to go down the route of a new build project. Weather it be on a development with other houses or on a building plot on it’s own. There is a real trend at the moment for developers to build a new development without actually building any houses. They build the development, sell off the plots and leave it to the individual families to appoint a company to build them a house. Or in some cases, build it themselves!

Although this approach has indeed found favour with people from the UK and other parts of Europe, the vast amount of Brits still long for that pretty village house steeped in hundreds of years of history, complete with exposed wooden beams, original stone walls and perhaps a view over vineyards.
