Property in Limoux - A Guide to Limoux

As a rule the prices of property in Limoux are still very reasonable compared with other parts of the Languedoc region.

We have seen smallish 3 bedroom townhouses in the middle of Limoux for sale for as little as €80,000. If you prefer living just outside the town in one of the surround villages then €135,000- €175,000 should be enough to secure you a good 3/4 bedroom village house.

Limoux itself is a quaint, rustic Languedoc town where it is argued that Champagne was invented. Whoever is right there are those in France and throughout the world who prefer the taste of Limoux’s Blanquette to Champagne. If you haven’t tried it yet then be sure to next time you are here.

The area around Limoux also produces some great Chardonnays and Syrah.

Limou is a friendly town that also plays host to one of Europe’s most popular carnivals, the Fecos. Each year between early January and March the town plays constant host to a stream of activities including music, dance, singing and of course eating. Piles of Limoux’s signature dish, Casoullet are devoured.

The main market day in Limoux is a Friday and if you are really stuck for something to do then why not head for the Piano Museum, or Musée du Piano.

Getting to Limoux easy straightforward enough, you can fly into Carcassonne Airport which is about 20 kms away or if you don’t mind a slightly longer journey you could try Perpignan or Montpellier. The flights are less than 2 hours.

Our tip for Limoux Property

If this is to be a holiday home or peaceful retirement home be sure to check out exactly where your house is in relation to the activities that take place throughout the carnival season. Some of the properties in Narbonne suffer from disturbance during this time.
