Property in Perpignan - A Guide to Perpignan
Property in Perpignan covers just about every style, price and taste.
You can buy two bedroom apartments right in the heart of Perpignan from just over €100,000 all the way through to large imposing farmhouses and villas on the outskirts of the city that go for in excess of €1 million.
The majority of foreign buyers tend to leave the property in Perpignan city center alone and buy the small village house in the surrounding areas. You can expect to pay anything from €65,000 for a typical village house.
If you like the beaches but don’t want to be too far from Perpignan City center then there are plenty of seaside villages such as Port Leucate and Port Barcares where you can purchase modern two bedroom apartments within modern complexes for just over €100,000.
Perpignan itself has a resident population of just over 160,000 people. The City dates back 900AD and in years gone by this important town was the capital of the Catalan Kingdom.
It’s a beautiful, scenic city and you can really sense and see where the Spanish and French influences have come together. Pavement cafes and busy “al fresco” restaurants are everywhere in the City Center as are both large well known shops and small, one of boutiques and curio shops.
Property in the Perpignan area has become much more popular since Ryanair started flying here a few years ago but unlike many of other parts of France you are not reliant solely on this airport as the only way of flying here.
You can also get to your Perpignon holiday home by flying into Girona Airport, Barcelona, Toulouse, Montpellier and Carcassonne.
The other advantage of owning a holiday home in Perpignan is the fact that you can easily reach the ski resorts of the Pyrenees over the winter months whilst enjoying the much milder climate and weather down at the coast.
